New Artist - Cody Rains

Cody Rains is a self-taught artist living and working in Oklahoma City. Emerging into the Oklahoma City Art scene in 2015, Cody’s current body of work serves as a two-fold examination. Each piece simultaneously examines the energy and movement of his subjects, while also capturing the energy and emotion of the ‘artist at work’. His painting style is loose and expressive, marrying wild abstract marks with correctly calculated marks to create an abstract painting that still holds some visual elements of realism.

His subject matter is often widely varied, including female portraits and figures, western rodeo cowboys, bucking bulls and horses, and abstract landscapes and cityscapes - all with their own unique energy and each holding significant emotional value for the artist. Cody uses a variety of mediums to create his works including oil, acrylic, spray paint, and graphite.
