COFFEE BIOGRAPHY
The Association of Sustainable Producers of Guatemala, or Asproguate, was formed in 2014 by 100 organic coffee growers in and around Chimaltenango seeking to prove that organically grown coffee is not only better for the environment but also more economically sustainable and leads to higher outcomes. The majority of farms are women-owned, nearly all of Asproguate’s members are of indigenous Kaqchikel and Tz’utujil ethnicity and grow their coffee organically. This particular lot is certified organic and Fair Trade.
